The sacrum is the most common site for pressure sores. ALLEVYN Sacrum has been designed for a superior anatomical fit on the sacral area to provide enhanced pressure sore management combined with the proven benefits of ALLEVYN Adhesive.
ALLEVYN Sacrum has a trilaminate structure made up from a wound contact layer, a soft and highly absorbent central hydrocellular layer and an outer film layer which is both bacteria proof and water- proof. |

APPLICATION Prepare and clean the skin around the wound. SKIN-PREP* wipes may be used if appropriate. Peel back the protector papers and anchor the dressing over the wound. Smooth the dressing into place, ensuring that the edges of the dressing are not wrinkled. When positioning ALLEVYN Sacrum dressings, place the narrow end of the dressing a minimum of 2cm above the anal sphincter, then smooth the dressing over the sacral area. |

During the early stages of treatment, ALLEVYN Sacrum dressings should be inspected frequently, dressings should be left in place until exudate can be seen through the outer waterproof film layer and approaches 2cm from the edge of the dressing.
REMOVAL To remove, lift one corner of the dressing and stretch it gently away from the wound.
PRECAUTIONS Do not use ALLEVYN dressings with oxidising agents such as hypochlorite solutions (eg Eusol) or hydrogen peroxide. In common with all adhesive products, some cases of irritation and/or maceration of the skin surrounding the wound have been reported. Infrequently, cases of sensitivity to the dressing have been reported. It should be noted that inappropriate use or too frequent dressing changes, particularly in patients with fragile skin, can result in skin stripping. If reddening or sensitisation occur, discontinue use and consult a health care professional.
