BACTIGRAS is made from an open weave gauze impregnated with soft paraffin containing 0.5% chlorhexidine acetate BP. BACTIGRAS is presented sterile and interleaved for easy aseptic application. Chlorhexidine is a proven antiseptic active against a wide range of Gram-positive and some Gram-negative organisms. No cross resistance has been demonstrated with the dressing in use and sensitisation is extremely rare. BACTIGRAS is recommended for use as a low adherent wound contact layer on wounds which are, or may become, infected. For already infect- ed wounds, BACTIGRAS can be used in conjunction with topical and systemic antibacterial agents. Dressings are available in a wide range of convenient sizes which can be easily cut to shape with the interleave in place. BACTIGRAS is soothing and low-adherent and allows easy drainage of the wound. |
