Contoura® 880 The Contoura 880 electric profiling bed is the general purpose flagship model of the CONTOURA range. It incorporates the latest, state of the art developments in support surface design, which help to aid and enhance patient care. The bed is suitable for patients who pose a moving and handling risk, and for patients whose clinical condition requires that they are moved with minimal physical handling. With a maximum safe working load of 250kg, the CONTOURA 880 bed caters for patients who are too heavy for many other beds. |

Electrically Operated Height, Backrest and Knee-Break Adjustment The electrical operation of the bed allows effortless, accurate patient positioning, and dramatically reduces moving and handling risks. All of the electrically operated CONTOURA models are fitted with battery back-up as standard. This feature permits normal usage of the bed, even when mains power is not available.
Electrically Operated Two Way Tilt (+/- 18°) This feature enables effortless tilting of the bed at the touch of a button from a standing position. Moving and handling risks associated with manually operated tilt are eliminated.
Chair Position The maximum angle of foot-down tilt (18°) allows the bed to be easily profiled into a chair position. This position offers several important clinical benefits, including improved lung expansion, improved blood supply to the legs and other gravitational benefits. It also offers considerable psychological benefits to patients who are confined to bed.
Low Height The excellent low height of 38 cm (143/4’’) allows the smallest patients to transfer into and out of the bed with minimal assistance.
Nurse Handset The nurse handset, located at the foot of the bed, has buttons for height, backrest, knee-break and tilt adjustment. It also has an auto-CPR button, which quickly flattens the bed to horizontal from any position.
Patient Handset The patient handset has buttons for height, backrest and knee-break adjustment. It also has an auto-contour button, which raises or lowers the backrest and knee- break simultaneously. This helps to optimise patient positioning and comfort.
Lockout The lockout controls, located at the foot of the bed, allow the nurse to selectively disable some, or all of the electrical functions on the handset. This important feature enhances the patient's safety whenever necessary.
Retracting Backrest Sitting the patient up helps to improve lung expansion and cardiac output. The backrest retracts as it rises. This feature, together with the auto-contour facility, helps to prevent the patient from being pushed down the bed.
Emergency Access In an emergency, the backrest can be rapidly returned to the horizontal position manually by lifting a red lever located on the side of the bed. There is a lever on each side of the bed for ease of access.
The head and foot ends are
easily removed in a single action, maximising accessibility to the patient when
required.
The calf section is adjusted by
means of an easy-to-use gas spring assisted mechanism. It may be lowered to
achieve Fowler and chair positions, or raised to improve venous return and
reduce oedema.
The bed extension adds 18 cm (7") to the in-bed length. Both the mattress platform and bed length extend, and the extended platform profiles with the calf section.
The integral safety sides are available as % length folding or split versions. The % length sides have optional clamp-on height extensions, for use when thicker mattress and overlay combinations are employed. The split safety sides move with the adjustable mattress platform sections to enhance patient safety. The sides can be lowered individually when required, maximising accessibility whilst maintaining patient safety. The top and bottom sides, when lowered, retract away from each other, increasing the gap in the middle of the bed and creating more space for patient transfer. In addition, when folded down, the sides retract inwards to store within the bed perimeter. This allows transport of the bed through narrow spaces.
An IV rod, which neatly stores under the bed, is supplied as
standard. There are four IV sockets on the bed frame.
The foot-operated brake levers
are easily accessible from either side of the bed. The levers have three
positions -brake, free and steer. Steer locks one of the castors, allowing the
bed to be easily pushed in a straight line.
The CONTOURA 880 bed has been
designed to be easy to clean. Features include a moulded base cover, a
perforated dimple sheet mattress platform which is removable in sections for
easy cleaning, and a full-width bed stripper. The structural parts of the bed
are protected by a durable nylon polyester coating, which is highly resistant to
chips and scratches. This helps to keep the bed in excellent condition, even
with very heavy usage, and helps with infection control.
The CONTOURA 880 bed is available with an optional factory fitted X-ray translucent backrest and cassette carrier. This allows upper body X-rays to be performed without moving the patient. It is usually required in intensive care, for patients who are too unstable to be moved.
