Contoura 980 Technical Specification The Contoura@ 980 bed combines all the benefits of electrically powered profiling with an easy-to-use integral weighing system. It is suitable for high dependency patients who require regular weighing as part of their clinical management. The maximum safe working load of 180 kg caters for the majority of patients. The CONTOURA 1080 bed with weighing, which caters for patients up to 450 kg, is available for patients who require in-bed weighing but exceed the safe working load of the CONTOURA 980 bed. |

Electrically Operated Height, Backrest and Knee-Break Adjustment The electrical operation of the bed allows effortless, accurate patient positioning, and dramatically reduces moving and handling risks. All of the electrically operated CONTOURA models are fitted with battery back-up as standard. This feature permits normal usage of the bed, even when mains power is not available. |
Electrically Operated Two Way Tilt (+/- 16°) This feature enables effortless tilting of the bed at the touch of a button from a standing position. Moving and handling risks associated with manually operated tilt are eliminated. |
Chair Position The maximum angle of foot-down tilt (16°) allows the bed to be easily profiled into a chair position. This position offers several important clinical benefits, including improved lung expansion, improved blood supply to the legs and other gravitational benefits. It also offers considerable psychological benefits to patients who are confined to bed. |
Attendant Control Panel (ACP) The nurse control or ACP, located at the foot of the bed, has buttons for height, backrest, knee-break and tilt adjustment. It also has a lockout facility, which allows the nurse to selectively disable some, or all of the electrical functions on the handset. This important feature enhances the patient's safety whenever necessary. |
Patient Handsets There are two patient handsets, which are built into the safety sides attached to the backrest. Each has buttons for height, backrest and knee-break adjustment. They are positioned to be easily accessible by the patient, and are clearly labelled for ease-of-use.
Built-in Mains Socket for Nimbus@ and Breeze@ Mattresses, and Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS) (Optional) The built-in mains socket enables Huntleigh Healthcare Nimbus@ and Breeze@ mattress systems to be directly connected to the bed, reducing the number of cables that need to be attached to wall sockets. The UPS enables these mattresses to be actively powered via the bed in the absence of mains power for approximately 1 hour, so it is not necessary to put the mattress into transport mode when the bed is away from a power source. The NIMBUS mattress will therefore continue to work in full alternating mode, and the BREEZE mattress in low air loss mode, offering important therapeutic benefits. |

The bed has an easy-to-use integral weighing facility, which weighs up to a maximum of 180 kg and is accurate to :!: 200 g. Weighing can be carried out with the bed in any position, and an auto-compensation facility allows objects to be added to, or taken away from the bed without affecting the patient's weight reading.
Dual-Side Fast Drop CPR Levers In an emergency, the backrest can be rapidly returned to the horizontal position manually by lifting a red lever located on the backrest. There is a lever on each side for ease of access.
Removable Head and Foot Ends The head and foot ends are easily removed in a single action, maximising accessibility to the patient when required.
Calf Section The calf section is adjusted manually by means of a handle under the mattress platform. The calf section may be lowered to achieve Fowler and chair positions, or raised to improve venous return and reduce oedema.
Built-in Bed Extension The bed extension adds 18 cm (7") to the in-bed length, enhancing comfort for taller patients.
Integral Safety Sides The bed has integral split safety sides, which move with the adjustable mattress platform sections to enhance patient safety. The sides can be lowered individually when required, maximising accessibility whilst maintaining patient safety.
Central Braking System The foot-operated brake levers are easily accessible from either side of the bed. The levers have three positions -brake, free and steer. Steer locks one of the castors, allowing the bed to be easily pushed in a straight line.
Infection Control The CONTOURA 980 bed has been designed to be easy to clean. Features include a moulded base cover, and a perforated plastic moulded mattress platform. The platform is removable in sections for easy cleaning, and the holes provide ventilation. The structural parts of the bed are protected by a durable nylon polyester coating, which is highly resistant to chips and scratches. This helps to keep the bed in excellent condition, even with very heavy usage, and helps with infection control.
Optional X-ray Translucent Backrest and Cassette Carrier The CONTOURA 980 bed is available with an optional factory fitted X-ray translucent backrest and cassette carrier. This allows upper body X-rays to be performed without moving the patient. It is usually required in intensive care, for patients who are too unstable to be moved. |
