EasySlide from Nesbit Evans Backstrain caused by heavy lifting is an age-old problem amongst nursing staff, and patients too can suffer through being lifted awkwardly. So Nesbit Evans has the simple, economical but brilliant solution - EasySlide. EasySlide is a padded 'tube' of low-friction fabric. It slides easily across itself, bearing even a heavy patient smoothly from one surface to another without the need for lifting. EasySlide can also be used to manoeuvre a patient, for instance on an X-ray or operating table, as different versions permit a versatile array of movements.Using EasySlide is straightforward to transfer patients to and from beds, trolleys, operating and X-ray tables, stretchers or any other surface. |

1 The two surfaces for transfer are anchored side by side. The edge of an EasySlide is slipped either directly tinder the patient or tucked beneath the bedsheet. |
2 The patient is moved sideways onto and across the EasySlide by pulling on the bedsheet, or pushing on the patient's upper arm and thigh, or both. |
3 When transfer is complete, pulling the underside of the EasySlide will roll it out without moving the patient. Removal is made easier by slightly tilting heavy patients. |

EasySlide standard (500 & 600mm widths) The red covered 600mm model is excellent for general sideways transfer purposes as shown right. The blue covered 500mm version is ideal for theatre use. Up to 50mm difference between surface levels may be safely negotiated with only two attendants, and EasySlide can prove effective for moving a patient from the ground onto a stretcher. It may also be used to facilitate turning a patient onto his or her side in X-ray or operating theatre situations. |

TurningSlide ThrningSlide is a specially wide (900mm) version of EasySlide, which remains in position under the bedsheet of patients who need to be turned regularly. The extra width completely accommodates the patient however they are moved, allowing them to be easily turned either way with no friction from the sheet (see photographs, left). To prevent patients from slipping when the backrest is raised, a 900mm wide version is available with two straps, which should always be fastened to the head end of the bed. |

MiniSIide Completing the trio, the MiniSlide is only 600mm long. If a patient has some mobility, the MiniSlide is able to offer a degree of independence, for instance to move up in bed (see diagram 1) or transfer to a wheelchair (diagram 2). Outdoors, the compact MiniSlide may even be used to help get in or out of a car. 1\\70 or more MiniSlides used together allow a variety of movements to be achieved. A patient can be D;loved lengthwise on a treatment table as shown in the photograph, left. Or by placing MiniSlides laterally on an X-ray or operating table several directions are possible (diagram 3), useful for urology and gynaecology. |
